In a headliner that should put even the most die hard boxing enthusiasts into a deep slumber, Antonio Tarver, the once and future 'has been', will be gunning for the IBF title. But the 39 year old Floridian will have to wrest it from the hands of a lesser known 'has been', Clinton Woods. Rather than go into depth about how I expect this fight to play out, lets just say there is easy money to be won on Tarver pounding out a snore-inducing decision. While I think Bernard Hopkins is perhaps one of the greatest middleweights in the world, he shouldn't have been able to destroy Tarver the way he did. I believe that loss had a lot to do with Tarver's weight loss/gain for the the Rocky VI movie. Now that weight is no longer an issue, I believe Tarver will use his superior boxing skills and reach to keep Woods at bay. Woods has no power and should not pose a threat in that department. Tarver on the other hand will probably be unable to take out a man who has only been knocked out at the hands of a prime Roy Jones Jr. Whoever is victorious at the end of this sham main event will be in pole position for the next waste of time matchup.
The way to bet this one is to put 2/3 of your total wager on a Tarver Win at-110 and 1/3 on Tarver by Decision at +150. While I feel confident that Clinton will last the full twelve, I can't rule out the possibility of a huge Tarver left hand finding the sweet spot. Good Luck!
