If you haven't seen the Australian Michael Katsidis fight you are in for a treat tonight when he faces his first big test against WBC interim champ, Joel Casamayor. I view this as the classic "out with the old in with the new" matchup. The cagey 36 year old veteran will see if he has anything left in the tank against the ferocious 27 year old Katsidis and my guess is he doesn't. Joel barely and undeservedly got by the journeyman Jose Santa Cruz in his last fight and now he is facing a stronger, fresher, faster and far more active fighter who will be coming forward all night. I expect Katsidas to win this fight handily and outwork the Cuban in every round. While I see Joel getting beat I don't see him getting knocked out. If he survived against Freitas and Corrales twice then he should be able to go the full twelve with Katsidas. Don't be surprised if Joel gets dirty in order to stay alive. Whether he gets dirty enough to cut Katsidis is my only real concern in this one (see photo above). Regardless, if Katsidas is victorious tonight he will definitely become a contender for the lightweight throne and a fine addition to the shrinking list of warriors in the sport.
